Lake Thonotosassa
Lake Thonotosassa is Hillsborough County’s largest lake, covering more than 800 acres. Years ago, it was settled by Native Americans, who named it Thonotosonelake-246sassa, the Seminole Creek language meaning for “Lake of Flints”. Lake Thonotosassa at one time was abundant in flint, which Native Americans used to make arrow heads. There is a variety of wildlife ranging from ibis and spoonbills to alligators and fish. The Lake is now mostly used for fishing and water sports, but its profound beauty still remains. Click here to read more about the history of Lake Thonotosassa.

Families plan to move into their brand new homes in Stonelake Ranch this year. Stonelake Ranch has broken ground on new six homes. Lake Thonotosassa and Lake Hendry will each be getting two new neighbors, as two homes are being constructed on Lake Thonotosassa and two on Lake Hendry. The homes range from 4,500 to 20,000 sq. ft. and are being custom built by each of the local owners. Check out some of the construction below.
