Lake Thonotosassa

Lake Thonotosassa is Hillsborough County’s largest lake, covering more than 800 acres. Years ago, it was settled by Native Americans, who named it Thonotosonelake-246sassa, the Seminole Creek language meaning for “Lake of Flints”. Lake Thonotosassa at one time was abundant in flint, which Native Americans used to make arrow heads. There is a variety of wildlife ranging from ibis and spoonbills to alligators and fish. The Lake is now mostly used for fishing and water sports, but its profound beauty still remains. Click here to read more about the history of Lake Thonotosassa.

John Cannon Model Home in Stonelake Ranch.

One of Stonelake Ranch’s exquisite luxury homes has been featured in the May/June 2009 issue of the duPont Registry. The article describes the home’s design elements down to the last detail. This John Cannon built and designed home uses an Italian Renaissance style. Autumn colors compliment the wrought iron used throughout the house in addition to the fine Venetian plaster finishes. The rooms are connected by arched walkways, and the floor-to-ceiling windows in the grand salon are the perfect way to showcase the natural beauty that Stonelake Ranch has to offer.
